Reduced partner pricing

Selected projects can be significantly more affordable.

At Orion Development, we can often price projects below larger German agencies because we work with a compact team, low overhead and a focused development process.

While expanding our client base in Germany, selected companies can also qualify for reduced early-partner pricing. This works best for clear, practical projects where the goal is a strong first version instead of an overloaded specification.

01

The honest answer

Custom software in Germany usually starts in the low thousands for very small internal tools and can easily reach six figures for serious platforms. The range is wide because the word software can mean almost anything: a small admin panel, a booking system, a mobile app, a SaaS platform, an automation layer or a full business operating system.

A useful estimate is not based on the name of the project. It is based on the workflows, user roles, data, integrations and long-term maintenance behind it.

02

Why German software can become expensive

German development work is not priced only by coding time. A serious offer also includes planning, technical decisions, testing, deployment, communication, bug fixing and responsibility after launch.

That is why comparing a German agency quote to a random offshore hourly rate is usually misleading. The cheaper offer may still become more expensive if the scope is unclear, the quality is low or the system needs to be rebuilt later.

03

Fixed price vs hourly work

For small and clearly defined projects, a fixed price can make sense. The scope is known, the risks are limited and both sides know what will be delivered.

For complex software, hourly or milestone-based pricing is often more realistic. It allows the product to change while still keeping control through clear phases, reviews and priorities.

04

What a good quote should include

A useful quote should not only say development. It should explain what will be built, what is excluded, how changes are handled, what technology is used, how deployment works and what happens after launch.

The more vague the offer is, the more likely it is that the real cost appears later.

The main cost drivers

Number of user roles and permission levels

Complexity of the backend and database structure

External integrations, APIs and automation

Design quality and frontend complexity

Security, hosting, logging and maintenance needs

How clearly the scope is defined before development starts

Quick estimate

Start with a range, not a fantasy number.

Tell us what you want to build, what it should replace and how soon you need it. We can usually tell you quickly whether the project is closer to €5k, €20k or €80k+. For suitable projects, we may also offer reduced partner pricing.

Common questions

Can custom software be built for under €5,000?

Yes, but only if the scope is small and focused. For example, a simple internal tool, a small automation workflow or a narrow admin panel. A real SaaS platform or complex app will not fit into that budget.

Is a fixed price better?

Fixed price is good when the scope is clear. For larger products, milestone pricing is usually safer because software changes once people start using it.

What is the biggest hidden cost?

Unclear scope. If the business process is not understood before development starts, the project usually becomes more expensive later.

How much should I budget after launch?

For maintenance, hosting, small changes and support, many companies should expect a monthly budget. The amount depends on the system, but ignoring maintenance completely is usually a mistake.

Final thought

The cheapest software is not always the cheapest project.

A clean, focused system that solves the right workflow is usually cheaper than a rushed build that needs to be fixed, replaced or explained forever.
